About the Farm
Greetings! We are Amy and Stew Wenerstrom, and we are the owners of Red Fox Farms and Stables in Richwood, OH. Amy is a native of Point Pleasant, WV (home of the Mothman!) and Stew is from Pittsburgh. We moved to Columbus from Pittsburgh in 1994 and now consider ourselves “almost-native” Ohioans.
For many years, we dreamed of getting out of the suburbs and having a piece of property of our own. In 2016, that dream became a reality when we purchased a beautiful seventy-eight acre property in Richwood. The property features a charming wood horse barn, indoor and outdoor riding arenas, and approximately fifty acres of grass pasture that we use to square bale hay. Two years later, we acquired a thirty-two acre, state-of-the-art equestrian facility adjacent to the original property. The equestrian facility features twenty-one stalls, indoor and outdoor riding arenas, and two observation areas in the indoor arena. Currently, the equestrian facility is operated by a business partner of ours.
In 2018 we began using a wood horse barn for some small events and gatherings, then in 2020 dear friends of ours approached us about using the barn as space for a summer-season farmer’s market. What started as one vendor selling excellent summer produce has grown to almost twenty regular vendors selling everything from quality olive oils, organic personal care products, handmade goat’s milk soaps, local honey, local maple syrup, organic sourdough bread, baked goods, home decor, art, leather goods, and jewelry from local artisans and craftsmen. An Old Fashioned Christmas market caps off the calendar year in early December featuring many more artisans, craftsmen, food trucks, and live entertainment!
We have a small flock of laying chickens and raise our own natural free-ranged meat chickens.. We enjoy gardening and attempting to be as self-sufficient as possible. Good health, traditional craftsmanship, and clean, local foods are our passions!
The property is also the home of Wenerstrom Forge. Max Wenerstrom began blacksmithing in 2014. Two years later he decided to pursue a career as a bladesmith and he spent several weeks in Portland, OR under the tutelage of Murray Carter of Carter Cutlery. Max forges a variety kitchen knives, neck knives, utility and hunting knives in the traditional Japanese bladesmith fashion.
We feel truly blessed to have this wonderful property and hope that someday you can share its beauty with us!
